The multitalented 18-year-old artist, dancer, songwriter and producer won the Norwegian final, Melodi Grand Prix (MGP), with his song “Lighter”. He received top score from 9/10 juries and won with a striking 307 points, 117 points ahead of the second place.

“Lighter” is written and produced by himself at home in his bedroom in the small town of Steinkjer in Norway, where he grew up.

- “Lighter” is about finding hope and strength after adversity. I wrote the song at a time when I had to remind myself that there is always a way forward, no matter how difficult life can be, Kyle explains.

The song is inspired by Kyle Alessandro’s mother, who has recently battled a tough cancer treatment and is now healthy. It celebrates both personal strength and perseverance, and carries a message about being your own driving force. With the lyrics “I’ll be my own lighter”, Kyle Alessandro expresses a mantra to find hope and inner light, even in tough periods in life.
