Amy Macdonald will launch her new album ‘The Human Demands’ with a special live stream event ‘An Evening With Amy Macdonald’, which begins at 7pm UK time on November 1st. The show will see Amy and a stripped-back acoustic band debut a selection of new songs from the album along with some fan favourites to a small socially distanced audience at The Mildmay Club in Stoke Newington, London. Amy will also be interviewed by a guest presenter and will answer questions that fans can submit in advance. Tickets are priced at £15 and are available here.
All profits from the event will benefit the #WeMakeEvents campaign. #WeMakeEvents is an international movement to highlight that the live events sector urgently needs support from local governments to survive the Covid-19 crisis. The campaign also champions all the people in the events industry, creating awareness and understanding of their threats and issues. As part of this, #WeMakeEvents raises money to give immediate support to individuals, families and industry charities. Please see the official website for more information.
"People just don’t understand how much work it takes to put on one live show. My road crew is relatively modest and even then we have 20+ people grafting every day to make sure the shows go ahead, these guys leave no stone unturned and are regularly some of the hardest working people I have ever met. They don’t want handouts, they just want to work! We’re in a position where none of us can work right now and unfortunately without help and support the events industry will be completely decimated. It’s all good supporting music and theatre venues but without the people behind the events then these venues will be empty. Road crew are the lifeblood of our music industry. Time to give them the credit they deserve” says Amy.

Fresh from returning with the poignant and upbeat lead single ‘The Hudson’ and its nostalgic video, Amy further previews her upcoming album ‘The Human Demands’ by sharing the new track ‘Crazy Shade of Blue’. Listen HERE. It sets Amy up to add a glorious new era to a career in which she has already achieved 200 million Spotify streams, four Top 5 albums (including her #1 debut), six million album sales, and played to a total audience of over 3.3 million people worldwide.

While ‘Crazy Shade of Blue’ is infused with a serenity that contrasts the energy of ‘The Hudson’, it finds Amy exploring another universal human experience. This time her focus is on the dark undercurrent of new-found love. It’s about having the bravery to share the insecurities and vulnerabilities that are needed to allow the relationship to flourish. Produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Tom Odell), ‘Crazy Shade of Blue’ builds upwards from its intro, recalling the angst and grit of the ‘90s alternative scene, with sonorous cello underpinning Amy’s vividly articulated lyrics. Watch the video HERE.
Amy commented, “I’m really excited to share another track from my new album. This is a bit strange for me as my songs are usually all up tempo, so I’m slowing it down a little with this one. The production on this song is just beautiful. It’s so atmospheric and it captures the mood of the song perfectly. It’s a song about coming together or maybe even coming apart. I know how I feel about it but I’ll let you decide. Enjoy.”
‘The Human Demands’ will be Amy’s fifth album and her first under a new deal with Infectious Music (alt-J, Garbage) / BMG. Due for release on the 30th October, it is available to pre-order here, and fans will receive instant downloads of ‘Crazy Shade of Blue’ and ‘The Hudson’. A selection of album bundles include signed lyric sheets and fresh merch designs.
Amy recently announced details of her 2021 European tour, which will be her biggest in a decade. It concludes with a large London show at the historic Roundhouse and will be followed by a main stage homecoming set at Glasgow’s TRSNMT in July.
