Lu Kala (real name Lusamba Vanessa Kalala) is a Congolese-Canadian singer. She was born on July 21, 1995 in Kinshasa, Zaire. Kala began her career by writing songs. She is believed to have written Jennifer Hudson's track “Dangerous” from her 2014 studio album JHUD. In 2019, Kala performed at Canadian Music Week, where she performed her debut single “DCMO (Don't Count Me Out)”. She is best known for her guest appearance on American rapper Latto's 2023 single “Lottery”, which entered the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Hot 100. In September 2024, Kala released her single “Criminal.” In October 2024, she joined Cyndi Lauper as an opener on two shows of the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun farewell tour.
