Jenny is a South Korean singer, rapper, model and actress.
She was born on January 16, 1996 in Seoul. She was the only child in a well-to-do family: her mother is the director of an entertainment company, and her father runs a hospital.
In 2010, she returned to South Korea and successfully auditioned for a major agency YG Entertainment. She became a trainee at an agency that trains K-pop stars.
In 2016, she became a member of the girl group Blackpink. She was originally supposed to be the lead singer, but since Kim was the only member who spoke fluent English, she was asked to rap.
In November 2018, Jenny made her debut as a solo artist with the single “Solo.” The song topped the Billboard and iTunes charts.
In 2023, Jenny made her debut as an actress under the pseudonym Jenny Ruby Jane in the American TV series Idol. She also participated in the recording of the soundtrack for this project.
In November 2023, the singer founded her own label Odd Atelier.
