“Resurrection” is a Soviet and Russian rock band. It has existed since 1979 with a break in 1982-1994. The leader is Alexei Romanov (1979-1982, 1994-present), Konstantin Nikolsky (1980-1982). Style - rock, with elements of blues, psychedelic rock, art rock, as well as country and rock 'n' roll. The songwriter was Alexei Romanov, leader of the rather successful band Kuznetsky Most. On the remaining vacancy - solo-guitarist - Alexei Makarevich, a longtime friend of Romanov's, was called. Thus, a new rock collective was born - the band Voskresenie. And in September 1980, “Resurrection” was not - Margulis went to “Arax”, Kavagoe and Makarevich left the music. Only Romanov remained in the band. Later that year a new line-up appeared - Nikolsky, Sapunov, Romanov and drummer Mikhail Shevyakov. But in the fall of 1982 Brezhnev died. All the band's concerts were canceled, and Resurrection No. 2 ceased to exist. In 1992 “Resurrection” consisting of: Romanov, Nikolsky, Sapunov, Shevyakov gave a concert in the Gorbunov Palace of Culture on the occasion of the release on vinyl of a record dated 1981. On March 12, 1994, Resurrection No. 3 gave its first concert. Nikolsky was the leader, the rest - Romanov, Shevyakov, Sapunov - were subordinates; at the rehearsal after this concert Nikolsky declared that the band would not sing any new songs and announced that his word was the defining one in the band. To his surprise, no one agreed with him. Then Nikolsky left the band. On May 1, Romanov, Sapunov, Margulis and Shevyakov together with the band Cruise performed in St. Petersburg. Then, the reunion was noisily celebrated in the Rossiya concert hall. In 2000 the band participated in the festival “Maxidrom”, in 2002 - “Wings”. New albums were released and previous albums were reissued. After the album premiere Evgeny Margulis, who had previously combined Resurrection and Mashina Vremeni, gave himself completely to the latter, and drummer Shevyakov also left. Since the fall of 2003 Voskresenie has been performing as a trio: Alexey Romanov, vocals, guitar; Andrey Sapunov, vocals, guitar, bass guitar, foot bass keyboard; Alexey Korobkov, drums, percussion. In 2008 bassist Dmitry Leontiev joined the band. On March 30, 2016 Andrey Sapunov announced his departure from the band. On June 28, 2016, it became known that the departed Sapunov would be replaced by keyboardist Yuri Smolyakov. In August 2017, Dmitry Leontiev was replaced by Sergey Timofeev on bass guitar.
