Maxim Leonidovich Leonidov, born February 13, 1962, Leningrad, is a Soviet and Russian musician, singer, theater and film actor, songwriter and TV presenter. He is known as one of the founders and a member of the bit-quartet “Secret”, and later as a solo performer. He was born into a Jewish family of actors of the Leningrad Academic Comedy Theater, honored artists of the RSFSR Lyudmila Alexandrovna Lyulko (July 10, 1923 - October 25, 1967) and one of the originators of the famous kapustniks Leonid Leonidov (real name Shapiro; March 27, 1927 - April 30, 1996). In 1979 he graduated from the Glinka Choir School at the Leningrad State Academic Chapel. In 1983 he graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre Arts, course of Arkady Katzman and Lev Dodin. In 1983 he became one of the founders of the popular beat-quartet “Secret” (Maxim Leonidov, Nikolai Fomenko, Andrei Zabludovsky, Alexei Murashov). His solo career was going on in parallel. In 1987 he released his debut solo release, the mignon “Confession”. After leaving the band in 1989, Maxim Leonidov continued his solo career. In 1990, together with his first wife Irina Seleznyova, he repatriated to Israel. He lived and worked in Tel Aviv until 1996, after which he returned to St. Petersburg. Maxim Leonidov's band “Hippoband” was founded in March 1996, after the musician's return from Israel. The band received its current name only in 2003 - “Hippopotam”. Periodically continues to collaborate with the group “Secret”. In 2009, the musician's solo album “Wild Thing” was released, recorded in Canada, with Kirill Shirokov acting as the album producer. In March 2010, Leonidov received the annual Nashe Radio's Chartova Dyuzhina award in the Poetry category for his song “Letter” from the album. In 2013, they released their first album in 16 years, Secret 30, and in 2014, All This Is Love. Married to Lensovet Theater actress Alexandra Kamchatova (born December 6, 1979).
