“Agata Kristi” is a Soviet and Russian rock band, one of the most popular in Russia and some other post-Soviet countries in the mid and second half of the 1990s. Its predecessor was a musical group founded by Vadim Samoilov in 1984 in Sverdlovsk under the name VIA RTF UPI. A few years later, Alexander Kozlov, who played a major role in the formation and development of the future Agatha Christie band, became the keyboardist of this group. At the end of 1987, Vadim's younger brother Gleb joined the band, which was called “Agata Kristi”. Officially, the history of the band is counted from the concert on February 20, 1988. Subsequently, the composition of the musical group changed many times, but its leaders and vocalists invariably remained the Samoilov brothers. They, together with Alexander Kozlov, are the authors of all Agatha Christie songs. The band's creativity is heterogeneous and overlaps with many directions of rock music - gothic rock, postpunk, alternative rock, psychedelic rock, glam rock, art rock, hard rock and others. The most famous songs of the band include such compositions as “Viva Kalman!”, “Like in War”, “Hysteria”, “Opium for Nobody”, “Fairy Taiga”, “Black Moon”, “Sailor”, “Helicopter Carpet”, “Secret”, “Thriller”, “In the Interest of Revolution” and “Heartbeat”. The band has ten studio albums, five compilations, two remix albums, three maxi-singles, and eighteen video clips to their credit. In 2009, the musicians announced the termination of the band's existence and went on a final tour of Russia and neighboring countries. By the summer of 2010 the last album of the band - “Epilogue” - was recorded, and the eponymous tour came to an end - the band played a farewell concert at the festival “Nashestviye”.
