Khaled Mohamed Khaled, known by his stage name DJ Khaled, was born on November 26, 1975 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Palestinian immigrant parents. First gained recognition as a radio host in the 1990s on radio station 99 Jamz. Solidified his popularity by working with hip-hop collective Fat Joe's Terror Squad as a DJ at their live shows. From 2004 to 2006, he assisted artists such as Fabolous, Fat Joe. In June 2006, his debut album Listennn... the Album debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200. A second album, We the Best (2007), spawned the hit single “I'm So Hood” (featuring T-Pain, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, and Plies). Two subsequent releases, We Global (2008) and Victory (2010), both reached the top ten of the Billboard 200. In 2009, Khaled became president of Def Jam Records South, and co-founded We the Best Music Group, a record label. In 2016, he released The Keys, a book in which he shared personal stories and philosophy on how to realize life goals.
