The song "The Best Of The Best" I wrote about 15 years ago. In 2014, when the war started, being in Los Angeles, I decided to record it and publish it. The recording featured world-renowned instrumentalists - violinist Eliza James (Paul Anka, Burt Bacharach), Alex Burke (Kate Pierson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Magnolia Memoir) on vibraphone and Esther Yim (Nalepa Dub Orchestra) playing cello parts. I really wanted to support my people with at least a song and sent it out to the media and put it on YouTube. At that time the song passed listeners by and I removed it from the public domain. After that I was waiting for the perfect moment for this song and the time came when at the Bandershtat festival I was approached by journalist, director and writer Ruslan Gorovoy, author of the projects "Service for Children's Rasshuku" and "This is How the Memory Works" and asked to join the project in memory of Danil Didik, who was a victim of terrorism during the March of Unity in Kharkiv in February 2015. After the conversation, several months passed and I realized that the time for the song "The Best Of The Best" had come.
Perhaps then, at the beginning of the Revolution of Dignity, I was ahead of time, perhaps the experiences and meanings I put into the song had to ferment and endure. I chose the release date of February 18, the day in 2014 when the confrontation between security forces and protesters peaked. Let the song "The Best Of The Best" go deep into the heart of anyone who hears it.
